It is Official!

We will be having the craft fair with the Festival of communities on April 16th! This will give us a HUGE crowd of people to sell too so I am very excited. I will be meeting with the planning committee next Tuesday where we will hammer out the details. Feb. 1st we will be posting the application on the UNLV website. I will be making flyers to distribute to all the local craft stores here in Vegas. Keep watching for the latest developments.

Exciting News!!

I have been chatting back and forth with UNLV. I initially planned the fair for the 16th of April but then they informed me that they are having a festival that day that is huge so we moved it to the 9th. Well then one of the coordinators of the festival called me and told me about the festival. It is called the Festival of communities and it is to support Culture and Art in Las Vegas. Well, that fits in perfectly with our crafting group considering that we are all from different cultures and communities which is reflected in the types of crafts we do.

So we are tentatively looking at doing the craft fair with them!!!

This is the 4th year they are doing the festival and they had 5000 people last year! They will be having booths that sell food from different cultures, activities for the entire family, tours of the facilities, stage performances of different cultures, and all kinds of other events going on in different buildings. So, I am waiting for it to get approved through their various departments and then we will see how it goes!! I am very excited for this because it would guarantee a large group of people to attend our fair and our event would be advertised with the UNLV event which gives us more publicity.

I would love any feedback that people have. Please pass the word so we can get a variety of vendors.

I was going to make the application available this weekend but we will put that off a week because I will see if we are approved to go with the festival and that will create a different application procedure.

The launch of the First annual Las Vegas Locals Craft Fair

Congratulations! If you are a crafter and live in Las Vegas you qualify to participate in our new craft fair. It is scheduled for April 9, 2011 9am-5pm at UNLV. My name is Melinda, I came up with the idea and I am working at getting it ready and going. If you would like to help out in volunteering, you can email me at artsylasvegan@yahoo.com. I will be posting the application on Saturday and making flyers so hopefully people can get the word out and post the flyers at their nearby craft stores.
